Update from the blogosphere #80 – got that Olympic feeling

If you live in and around London you probably will have already noticed the capital is getting ready for the Olympics. From Olympic driving lanes specifically for VIPs and athletes, to an influx in tourists (making the commute even more of a nightmare!), the whole country seems to be going mad for the Olympics, so it’s no wonder you’re all talking about it on the blogosphere.

With just a week to go until the Olympics start, Diary of a Dashing Fashionista has blogged about the opening ceremony and some medal inspired gym gear. We like to see even gym fashion is being influenced by this major event, and with AW12 trends embracing opulence, metallic are sure to be huge so it’s time to think of gold, silver and bronze. Check out where these podium position pieces are from over on the blog.

When there are British designers and a huge British event to champion, Kate Windsor (nee Middleton) is our golden girl. Fashion Fois Gras posted about the recent photo-shopping incident for South Africa’s Marie Claire cover and they’re right, it’s nice to see our fair Kate looking her best (check out both images over on Fashion Fois Gras here). Stepping out this week in a Stella McCartney simple blue shift dress, she looked effortlessly stylish. We loved her Olympic ring inspired Cartier Trinity necklace. We saw over on Catwalk Queen’s blog that this magpie jewellery cost a staggering £49,000! If only we were a princess…

It’s easy to see why Style Bubble is so excited about Opening Ceremony opening in London with their initial pop-up store on King Street (their permanent location will be down the road a bit later on).  Under one roof, you can see Adidas Originals x Opening Ceremony bandanas, the limited editions from designers like Proenza Schouler, House of Holland and Norma Kamali and now you get to see even more designers representing London and the Olympics. If you haven’t already, check out Style Bubble’s blog for tonnes of photos and why not head down to Covent Garden to check it out yourself.

If you’re getting ready for the Olympics your own way, let us know. We love hearing your thoughts and getting some inspiration.

Have a great weekend!
