Fashion Week is Hair – Go BIG or Go Home!

BrandAlley LFW

On the eve of London Fashion Week, what better way to predict the hairstyles that’ll soon be sauntering down the catwalks than to look at the hair trends seen on display at New York Fashion Week…

Amongst an array of the sleek and chic ponytails and slicked back styles that have continued to feature heavily on the red carpet throughout awards season, New York Fashion Week’s biggest hair trend was exactly that…BIG

On the Mark Jacobs runway the hair was as bold as the lip colours – with bouncing Rita Hayworth inspired waves paired with a uniform red lip. Each girl’s hair was styled into a deep side parting and teased into a major, lion-esque mane.

Here’s how to re-create this look at home:

- Draw the line: A deep side parting yields instant glamour and sophistication, but placement is key. For a symmetrical appearance, the parting should align with the highest part of the eyebrow.

- Apply product: Rub a dollop of TIGI Camera Ready Shiner Defrizzer between the palms and apply to hair – ensuring that you brush it through afterwards to ensure every strand is coated.

Update from the blogosphere #91 – Beauty box comparisons

Now LFW is over and summer is well and truly on its way out, you could understand if people were a little disheartened on the blogosphere…but they weren’t! Instead we saw a massive influx of beauty blogs that kept us entertained, interested and wanting to try some new things out. We’ve known for a while that companies and brands are sending out beauty boxes to beauty enthusiasts who love to try new products, brands, and anything beauty related so this week we thought we’d find out what you think.

Sabrina from A Little Obsessed blogspot received her Joliebox this week and was really pleased with the goodies inside which ranged from masks and scrubs to hair ties, lipbalm and even offers and discounts. For ÂŁ10 a month Sabrina was impressed with the little box of goodies and we have to admit, we love the idea of trying samples before spending big bucks on products that might not be right for our skin.

Selfridges also offered a beauty box last month as a one-off which was hugely popular, and sold too well! So much so that they had

Update from the blogosphere #89 – LFW round-up

Without a shadow of a doubt, fashion’s most exciting week finished on Tuesday (in the UK) and is still going strong in Milan and then Paris. It’s no wonder that the blogosphere has been quick to pick up on all the trends, street styles, catwalk shows and gossip from LFW so we picked a few of our faves to give you a weekly round-up.

If you caught our street style blog on Tuesday (check it out here), you’ll have noticed we saw a lot of camouflage and khaki. Military style was clearly a big trend on the streets at LFW, mostly in jacket form but Lily from What I Heart Today blog was rocking a pair of camou green jeans. We also saw lots of fabulous statement necklaces and again, Lily was working this look. Her final outfit for LFW was bang on trend and looked effortlessly cool. Check out all the outfits on her blog here.

When we quizzed the stylish people at LFW about their favourite shows, The Ashish spring 2013 catwalk was right up there. We spotted on Fashion Loving blog a mini synopsis which summarised the …

Update from the blogosphere #82 – Olympic nails

The Olympics have gripped not only the nation but the entire world and it’s not just the sport we’re interested in! Coming to the end of the Olympics (*sob*) it’s clear to see that statement nails have attracted nearly as much attention as the medals so it’s no wonder the blogosphere is inundated with photos of the best and the easiest videos on how to achieve the intricate styles.

Fashion Assist wordpress has put together a gorgeous selection of the nails worn by some of the best Olympians in the world. We’re impressed by the original and inventive designs – who knew you could get a kangaroo on your pinky! We’re loving this patriotic trend that nail artist Sophy Robson has brought to the competition with Max Factor. She’s created 214 bold country flag designs, take a look at some of the amazing styles on Fashion Assist’s blog here and check out more designs on the athletes over on Like Love Style blogspot.

Moving away from the flags but still jumping on the Olympic theme is Dutch Diana’s blogspot. The rings look quite like bubbles so this is something you …
