The LRD (little red dress) and our style crush

Over the Jubilee weekend, the Duchess of Cambridge wowed the crowds with her fabulous ensembles and it’s easy to see why Kate has become the sweetheart of Britain. Her style status is rocketing and where she goes, we’re quick to follow.

Kate is relatable, recycling items from previous looks as well as looking to earlier seasons to pick up the perfect piece. Take for instance the gorgeous red Alexander McQueen number. We were quite surprised to see that she took some styling tips from the unlikely Tulisa and Kim Kardashian who had both worn a version last year! Nevertheless, K-Middy made it her own with stunning accessories as well as a more demure, covered up version. A dress like this costs in the range of £1200 and although we love it, we’re not ready to be blowing that much cash…especially when we can pick up a similar dress from Pink Label for just £49! We love the dropped waist and pleated skirt, it reminds us of the Victoria Beckham edition with scalloped edge from her debut collection.  It exudes playful chic and is perfect for any office to bar …

McQ sale!

You merely have to mention the name Alexander McQueen at Brand Alley HQ, and I can guarantee you’ll have our undivided attention! We enjoy nothing better than a good gawp at their collections and as expected, their diffusion line – McQ – hasn’t failed to impress.

No one can deny that the late Alexander McQueen was one of the most admired and unique fashion visionaries of the past few decades. A true non-conformist, he certainly had no issues breaking the fashion rules with his provocative collections, and it is this essence of rebellion that can be seen right through McQ.

Inspired by the styles and trends associated with past musical movements, McQ holds the areas of youth culture, anarchy and revolution at the brand’s core – truly embodying McQueen’s trademark cutting-edge style.

For this collection, McQ fused the optimism of underground London in the eighties with punk style of their 21st century counterparts. Expect oversized polka dots, broad monochrome stripes, and vibrant colours, as well as the volume and detail we expect from the house of McQueen.

This is truly a collection jammed pack full of stand out pieces, that …

McQ by Alexander McQueen

Forever dubbed the ‘enfant terrible’ of fashion, East London-based designer, Alexander McQueen is now on sale at BrandAlley. He is almost certainly one of the most innovative and daring ateliers of today. Having graduated the Masters course at the world famous Central St Martins, and having twice achieved the title of ‘British Designer of the Year’, he is definitely a man you can trust to keep you looking ahead of the crowds, no matter what the demographic.

McQ is his high-quality diffusion line and it still manages to pack the same, edgy, rock’n’roll punch of its bigger sibling. From the collection available, one of the standout pieces is the feather-scarf mini dress – with a sensationally bold pink, blue and white feather print, it has the beautiful ability to be worn on a lavish night out, teamed up with some daring heels and a smart clutch, or it can be taken around town, totally dressed down with a pair of flat canvas shoes and a big, patent handbag. The feather print is also found in our collection in a smoky grey and pink tone, placed upon a beautiful belted stole and

Alexander McQueen Puma, Urban Mobility and Archive Collection

Collaborations are a funny thing, sometimes they are the thing dreams are made of, other times they’re so underwhelming it hurts. Details are slightly sketchy as to the origins of this Alexander McQueen / Puma mash up. Sure the results are there for all to see, but what makes a pair of giants in their own field decide to mix it up like this? You know what, it really doesn’t matter – the end product speaks for itself. Mr McQueen has added some subtle innovations to the already successful Puma brand, and instilled some inspired styling ideas along the way. Please see photo 1 for evidence.

The Archive sale however is a very different beast to the McQueen range – bright and audacious. Vintage styled Puma’s that have been coloured in by caffeine sensitive youngsters who have been fed a large pot of strong coffee. The effect is brash, outlandish and very very cool. See photo 2 and 3.

Best of all is the Urban Mobility which is modelled by our very own design team pin-up Ludovic. However, you’ll have to sign up to see this hunk in the flesh.…
