Fun and frolics, bees and berries

It may be the last long weekend of the year, but summer’s not over yet!  Before you head out to enjoy your Sunday that feels like Saturday, why not hit the BrandAlley sales and snap up a savvy designer bargain or two?
The Notting Hill Carnival
Held every August Bank Holiday since 1966, The Notting Hill Carnival is the largest street festival in Europe. This celebration of Afro-Caribbean culture is an exciting spectacle of soca floats, steel bands, live music stages playing everything from r&b and reggae to salsa, dub and much more. If you go to Time Out, you’ll find an invaluable Carnival Guide, with parade route maps as well as tips on staying safe and having fun. Oh, and remember your brolly – just in case!
Project X
Â
If you love time travel and whodunnits, Project X is the perfect treat. This thrilling, immersive new show is the ultimate in audience participation, taking you on a theatrical adventure around Covent Garden. You’ll meet mysterious actor characters in covert locations who’ll help you solve clues as you dash around trying to unravel the secrets of a curious conundrum! Tickets include entry to the London Transport Museum and are available from Project X, London.
Philip Smiley’s HIVE
This summer, arty concept bar JaguarShoes in Shoreditch is home to a giant, ‘paper theatre’ ceiling installation. This amazing, free exhibition is the creation of talented visual artist, Philip Smiley, who’s worked with Stella McCartney, Burberry and TopShop to name a few. Inspired by British summertime, honeycomb and bees, HIVE is well worth a look if you’re in the neighbourhood.
Knebworth Vintage Stylish Clothing and Retro Market
Head over to Knebworth House Estate in Hertfordshire today for a brilliant day out for all the family. Shop at the fabulous vintage market, have your photo taken with rarely seen vintage vehicles, picnic in the stunning park and enjoy a relaxing stroll around the gardens. And if you dress to impress in an outfit from your favourite vintage era, you could win a Fortnum & Mason hamper. Find out more here.
Summer pudding
You just can’t have August Bank Holiday weekend without summer pudding, as far as I’m concerned. For a truly divine recipe, try this one on Delia Online. It’s really easy. Just bear in mind that if you make it today, you’ll need to leave the pudding in the fridge overnight to soak up all those lovely berry juices.  Everyone round to yours for lunch tomorrow, then!
Happy Sunday
