Summer and festival hairstyles

If you’re going away on holiday (begrudgingly looking at Vicki from across the table who’s going away for 2 weeks!!!) or heading to one of the last summer festivals then you’ll need a summer hair ‘do that will keep you cool, stylish and hassle-free.

Ever since Blake Lively sizzled on the red carpet at the Green Lantern premiere last summer, fishtail plaits have firmly been on our radar. Wearing a gorgeous  Spring 2009 Chanel Couture gown that featured flower-appliqué similar to a Robert Rodriguez number we have onsite at the moment (£170 RRP £180), our golden girl went for a laid-back messy ‘do that had every one of us wondering how such a dishevelled hairstyle  could look so good. The best part about? The style looks just as good on the beach as it does on the red carpet so this is one hairstyle we know you’ll want to work yourself. And it’s easy to achieve too! Check out this how-to video and get A-list glam in an instant. Once Blake debuted the ‘do, Hollywood quickly followed.

We tried it in the office, and it’s not too difficult to do – what do you think?

Protecting your hair with a hat on holiday has long been the choice of fashionable and elegant women, but moving away from this and into some seriously trendy tresses is the scarf ‘do. Put down the red bandana, we’re not going back to the 90’s and channelling Tupac. We’re talking more of a vintage up ‘do secured with a cute head scarf a la Rihanna.  P.S. this is the perfect hairstyle for unwashed or scruffy festival hair as it covers the roots and almost anything goes.

We blogged about the top knot recently about being the fashionistas go-to hairstyle and it still it. As the easiest and lowest maintenance look we’ve seen all year, it’s our ‘top’ look. Plus it gives you a few added inches = bonus!

If you have a favourite hairstyle that’s just perfect for the beach and festivals – let us know.

Happy hairdressing!
