Gold, silver & bronze – medals inspiring AW12 fashion
Team GB are right up there in the medals table with a good mixture of bronze, silver and most importantly gold. Is it any surprise then that for the year of the Olympics, opulence and metallics are big trends? Designers have taken inspiration from this to create fabulous fashionable looks we’ll all be emulating come September.

Luxurious shimmering fabrics and metallic tones create one of the most lavish trends we’ve seen in a long time. Forget a double dip recession, this autumn it’s all about indulgence and wearing your wealth on your sleeves (and trousers, dresses, accessories – you get the picture).

Dolce & Gabbana sent models down the runway wearing rich textures looking fabulous in black, white and gold. Meanwhile the gold mini dress from DKNY upped the glamour stakes and we fell in love with these silver Michael Kors snakeskin effect wedges. This metallic Issa dress from SS09 is as on trend now as it was back then so be fashion savvy and recycle your metallic to nail this AW12 trend.

Even trainers have got the medal make-over with these gorgeous Hogan Rebel and Converse numbers taking silver and gold.
In the words of Donatella Versace, ‘more is more’ so it’s time to get regal and take on the glitz and glamour for AW2012. And don’t be scared, this is one trend where anything goes. Layer up and work your metallic like a seasoned pro.
Go for gold Team GB!
