Avoca is a family-run business that originated in Avoca Village in County Wicklow, Ireland. Way back in 1723, farmers from the village would spin and weave their wool in the mill at Avoca Village, learning quickly that vivid natural colours could be added to the wool to create beautiful wool.  The mill thrived for years but during the 1960’s, handweaving was a dying art. In 1974 Donald & Hilary Pratt bought the Avoca Handweavers Mill, and once again began handweaving.
The detail and colouring of Avoca items is what sets it apart and makes it stand out. Quality and quaintness are the foundations of the brand seeking inspiration from around the world for the fabrics and materials to create pieces that are exciting, beautiful and never average or ordinary.
Today Avoca remains a family business, now run by four siblings, their parents and a fantastic team. This team has created not only gorgeous clothing in their Avoca Anthology women’s wear range but also ceramics & candles, perfumes & bags and lots more.
It’s easy to see why Avoca is one of the world’s oldest surviving manufacturing companies. Famous for their throws and blankets as well as clothing, Avoca exports their goods to around the world showcasing them in the finest boutiques around the world. They even have their own food label!
