BrandAlley Garden update from designer, Paul Hervey-Brookes

Our BrandAlley Garden designer, Paul Hervey Brookes has just been in touch with his latest update. So, here it is, exclusively here on our blog and hot off the press…

With less than three weeks until Chelsea Flower Show opens and only days before the start of our BrandAlley Garden build on 8th May, stress levels have been steadily rising. Will plants flower on time? And will the weather be kind long enough to bring the best out in our trees?

So to find out, I’ve just made a final dash around the nursery to check on our plants and to see whether the recent warm weather has thrown up any extra, interesting choices.

Last time I visited the nursery, the plants were just brown discs of optimism in a sea of black pots. But while I was going pink in the sun, I have to admit being seriously worried that our Chelsea plants might still in the depths of a long cold winter and early spring.

So, it was with some trepidation that I inspected the plants at the nursery on Tuesday. And what a surprise – alliums in full bloom and irises looking stunning, all in brilliant sunshine!  Faith was almost restored in our very British weather, but not all of my concerns have disappeared. Although there’s lots of fresh growth and promise, I sense that, depending on a few crucial days of sunshine, we may still face the annual Chelsea shuffle as some plants don’t perform and others come from the wings to centre stage.

Plants and Chelsea are relentlessly difficult and split designers equally.  Some choose to bring in Italian-grown and Dutch-grown stock, nurtured in heated greenhouses. These plants can look stunning, but a cold London night will soon have them looking burnt and limp.

Personally, I’ve always used a couple of English nurseries, specialising in well-grown plants that are in bloom at the right time of year for Chelsea. They’re also grown hard – which means out of doors with no assistance.  It’s a gamble, but I prefer Chelsea visitors to know that our plants are UK grown and naturally flower in May.

As a final little tease, I have to say that there will be some surprises at Chelsea this year. Thanks to a decidedly odd spring, some plants we’d expect to be looking good are stubbornly refusing to burst into growth. And others we’d expect to blossom a little later are now looking as if they will be in their prime for Chelsea. So, right across the showground, I think we are in for very exciting and unexpected plant selections from all the designers!

Watch this space…

As you can imagine, with less than three weeks to go until Medal Day,  there’s lots going on behind the scenes.  We’ll be posting updates on our blog as Paul Hervey-Brookes builds the garden in the Royal Hospital grounds.  Plus, there’ll be news during Show Week itself (21st-25th May) both on our blog and on our Facebook page to keep you in touch with all the gossip.  So, there’s plenty to look forward to!

Guest Blog: Kitty from Undercover Lingerista Blog

Lingerie blogger, Kitty from Undercover Lingerista blog, reviews pieces from the Chantal Thomass sale…..

Lingerie should never be underestimated in its power to transform the wearer, making them feel confident, feminine and beautiful. As a lingerie blogger, I find myself seduced by quality garments that are exquisitely designed and well-constructed. My addiction to gorgeous underwear combined with my love for a sale have led me to the discovery of BrandAlley, which has since become one of my ‘go-to’ places for designer lingerie at affordable prices.

BrandAlley recently got in touch with me to let me know about one of their upcoming designer sales for Chantal Thomass lingerie. Chantal Thomass has been dubbed the “Queen of French Lingerie” and her 40 year career has seen her dabble fearlessly in Ready-to-wear fashion, Interior design and of course, Lingerie. Since the beginning, Chantal Thomass has sought to revolutionise lingerie through a strong focus on aesthetics, transforming lingerie into a celebration of femininity and creativity.

BrandAlley kindly sent me a sample of Chantal Thomass lingerie to review – a perfect way to whet my appetite before the sale officially launches! I received a stunning set from the ‘Broderie Losanges’ line, which comprised a half-cup bra, garter belt and brief. The half-cup bra is underwired and unpadded, featuring cups made from nude mesh overlaid by polka-dotted black mesh. The cups also boast a knock-out lattice design with a triangular fringe and a bow adorning the centre gore.

The knickers match the bra beautifully, with an identical diamond design, nude and black mesh overlay and feminine bow motifs. The black dotted mesh on the back of the knickers allows for a cheeky flash of derrière – a look that is saucy yet sophisticated!

The black mesh garter belt is also a very versatile piece that adds contrast to the lingerie set, whilst nipping you in at the waist. Featuring a minimalist lattice design, thick suspenders and bows, this garter belt is modern vintage seduction through and through!

Although the bra is not my size, the garter belt and knickers fit beautifully. The stretch-mesh knickers and suspender belt with boning are very comfortable to wear and both contour to your curves without digging in. The nude and black mesh fabric combination is really striking and the attention to detail makes this Chantal Thomass set delightfully luxurious and elegant.

Chantal Thomass lingerie certainly impresses with its timeless, feminine and seductive pieces. If your underwear drawer is crying out for a Spring/Summer update, get ready to feast your eyes on the BrandAlley Chantal Thomass lingerie sale. You won’t be able to resist a slice of Chantal Thomass’ iconic French style..

Guest Blog: Tamar Kendall from The Lingerie Stylist

This week’s guest blogger, Tamar Kendall, from the Lingerie Stylist blog reviews pieces from the Chantal Thomass sale….

Women have a romantic fascination with Paris; the canvas to many on-screen kisses, Parisian designers and the style icons they respectively produced, the lifestyle… it is safe to say that whether or not we have a beaux of our own, we can all admit to a love affair with Paris. When it comes to achieving that certain ‘je ne sais quoi’ nothing screams “Parisian chic” more than a luxurious set of French lingerie.

Chantal Thomass is a famed lingerie designer from Paris whose elegantly seductive negligee designs make you feel like a queen, and are certain to set the pulses racing of anyone lucky enough to see you wearing them. From bra and knicker sets, to corsets and robes there is something to tickle everyone’s fancy, but I’m personally partial to a little chic lounging so beautiful sets like this Imperial Blue Chemise and Shortie are just perfect for those cosy nights in.

Silk mix fabric is so luxuriously smooth as it slides over you and the softness of this set will sooth even the most sensitive of skin types. Blue is a far more flattering colour than black on most skin tones and this imperial (almost navy) blue has a real richness to it that I simply adore. Both the short and chemise are edged with a beautifully delicate black lace and the chemise features a cute little button at the bottom of each adjustable strap so there are lots of little pleasures for those with an eye for detail.

I’m passionate about educating women on the delights of wearing special lingerie and Chantal Thomass is a fabulous place to start if you want to bring a little French fancy into your boudoir …Ooh-la-la!
