There’s one accessory you know will make you feel like royalty. It is of course, the not so humble tiara. From royal princesses, to pop princesses, duchesses to wannabes, everyone from Diana to Cheryl, Kate and Madge have all been sporting the look (you can even pick up a replica of the Cartier 1936 vintage tiara K-Middy used as her ‘something borrowed’ (from the queen!) for £69 from Selfridges!).

When simple jewellery is not enough, and you really want to wow, then tiaras are the accessory of choice. They’re lavish and magnificent, and make a statement. With a gorgeous up-do, it totally channels Audrey Hepburn’s glamorous look in Roman Holiday.

This Union Jack inspired tiara with red, white and blue crystals and platinum base is perfect for this Jubilee Bank Holiday weekend, but we can’t quite see the likes of Her Majesty wearing it.

Here at BrandAlley HQ, our bank holiday celebrations are in full swing, with extra special savings on all your favourite brands in Day One of our Jubilee Clearance Spectacular today.
These four glorious days of merrymaking have given us carte blanche to dress up in all our finery. And it’s the perfect excuse to go back to the start of Her Majesty’s 60-year reign and embrace the 1950s – one of this summer’s hottest trends.

The retro-influence is unmistakeable, interpreted in a thoroughly modern way, as seen in Jonathan Saunders’ SS12 collection. His designs ‘encapsulate a new, refined femininity that feels so right for now: modern yet somehow old fashioned, sexy but not overstated, laydylike but not stuffy.’ (Elle Collections)

Everywhere you look there are fifties-style frocks with nipped-in waists, cheery prints like Dolce & Gabbana’s dazzling collection of sultry silhouettes channelling 1950s Italian summertime. Then, there’s Prada’s brilliant take on iconic 1950s style, with the Retro Americana trend with cartoon cadillac prints on bandeau tops and pleated skirts in delicious milkshake …

Hands up who’s seen the decorations across the capital? We took a stroll down Oxford Circus last night and felt a massive pang of patriotism seeing the bunting in the warm night sky. This inspired us to think about our own decorations for this weekend’s celebrations and here at BrandAlley HQ we know a thing or two about throwing the perfect party! If you want to bring the jubilee spirit into your home then take a look at some of the easy ways you can create the perfect party atmosphere. The designers at Selfridges gave us a little treat with their tea party ideas and with our Jubilee inspired pompoms to match bunting and balloons – your guests are in for a treat!

We love these cushions designed to look like quintessentially British biccies. Only trouble is, we’re likely to start craving them whenever we sit down, in fact, our cravings have started now. Pass the biscuit tin!

Nothing says the Queen’s Golden Jubilee like royalty, so dig out some postage stamps and have them blown up and made into cushion covers. Or head to Emma Bridgewater for this fabulous …
